Club Message

Come and try a beginner's fly tying session before the regular scheduled fly tying session. The beginning session will start at 6pm an hour before the monthly fly tying session This will give a beginner some basic skills and help them get ready for the regular scheduled fly tying session at 7pm

Good and happy spring/winter/ ??????—-Obviously I am a bit confused.

If you have some free time, and are hankering for some trout action, hie yourself down to the Weiser Community pond, and assuming you can find some open water, and the wind isn’t blowing half a gale, bring your rod. You probably will hook a few, but you will also likely notice a lanky guy who seems to catch about six times as many, as in one- after- another.

He’s a friendly sort, and if you ask, he will gladly describe(show/offer-to-give -you-one) the day’s successful fly. If you pay attention , you can notice that his rod has no reel—

—and he can keep one hand in his pocket to stay warm, and switch hands when one gets cold. And he is not constantly handling a wet line, like us conventional folks. AND, he is catching fish—some big ones.

The successful fisher is Mike Stanton (who also happens to be the administrator who keeps our club running)—and the gear he is using is Tenkara. If you want to know more, come to our next meeting, Tuesday, the 13th, where Mike will provide us with history and techniques, and suggestions to get started.

Ray is up to teach us a new fly on February the 20th, the recipe is here

A new tying session for beginners will be discussed.

Go fishing, folks—-stay warm and safe while doing so.
